firstly,
it’s cny eve so gong hei fatt choy sun nin fai lok to everyone : )
i hope everyone had a good reunion dinner
i played chef tonite. instead of making the whole yu-sang (raw fishjellyfish type dish) along with the yam well with cashew nuts and chicken etc…we went western.
hahaha i made dinner but i only want to show you the fucking awesome bruschetta i saw from jamie oliver’s at home show from a few days back. it’s so awesome how something so simple can store a lot of good things and bring smiles to faces ; ) needless to say, i immitated him and served that as entre before serving up the rest of the meal : ) cook on demand yo! which is very rarely i will do unless breakfast : )
so following jamie’s wild mushroom bruschetta recipe,

**nb: the bread is normal wholegrain because we didn’t have any fancy french or sour dough toast/roll at home : )
i topped it off with parmesan because i thought it would look nice and i couldn’t remember if jamie oliver grated in some awesome fresh italian parmesan : ) but i’d dare say gerranno was very lucky cos he got to eat a really really nice meal XDD
that was followed up by

cold swiss potato salad but it’s not really traditional because, AGAIN i looked through the fridge and took out all the almost rotting fruits and vegs and threw it in. mayonaise and yoghurt with a bit of lemon works wonder on taste LOLOL
the mains was lamb and steak but i forgot to take a pix of the lamb..sigh…so it was one of those premarinated ones you can buy in the supermarket so no biggie…tho this was the first time i cooked meat without charring it (cos other ppl was eating hahahaha i charr all my own meat cos i hate blood) which leaves us with the steak.
it wasn’t marinated so we had to diy it

fried it as it is and just emptied out the last 1/4 of our cheap red wine we were trying to get rid off and then just cracked pepper. i am quite proud to say that was all i did without any garlic or onions…we had been eating shitloads of beans and onions and garlic and i thought it was high time we ate fresh. so i fried the steak and then just semi poached it in reducing red wine….as it got into a thick gravy, i threw in some leftover potatoes to soak it up and left it all to fry : )
meat was served med rare tho it ended up rare…-___-
but rest assured, no meat was charred. see i am not that selfish can cook for other ppl.
last dish was also premarinated chicken.

think it was morroccon but couldn’t really tell and i dun really care cos i dun like chicken and then under the chicken was all the crapping out veges…just roast them with some backyard herbs like roastmary or thyme or parsley and it would be ok….be generous with the EVOO..i mean you are trying to give life back into crapping vegs…. this is what happens when everyone works and the weather so hot it’s just really takes effort to want to eat proper meal instead of ice cream for dinner…..but i think i am just about done eating cucumber salad every night for dinner -____-”
drinking corona while eating all of this was awesome : )
under the cut, our buffet lunch at valentines……and this is my moral message to new zealanders who fits the hat.
NEW ZEALANDERS, IT”S THE WAY WE EAT AND DRINK THAT MAKES US FUCKING OBESE. STOP BLAMING THE ESTABLISHMENT AND THE GOVERNMENT BECAUSE IT’S TIME WE GAVE MORE FUCKS BOUT OUR HEALTH than booze and hoes.
