Obsevatory review

on a sunny sunday that, one of my friends is about to be a mommy and full term comes in on feb : D
she’s having a baby boy : D congratulations chica <3 <3 hope you are having a blast in glowing and then you are off to become a very proud mommy :D

ok moving on.
dinner at the observatory was disappointing – food wise but i had a dam good time with my partner : D
the buffet food selection was limited – all was concentrated on seafood but the food was, BORING.
it’s not even high class…in fact i think you’re better off at valentine’s because got more selection and value for money there but at the observatory, it was loud, crass and the atmosphere just made it impossible to be romantic … seriously thought this was one of those fancy buffets like in high teas in mandarin oriental..BUT APPARENTLY NOT!!!

the food pixs were not worth taking because they were present like food just got slobbed on…
$61 pp, you just paying for the view
the atmosphere sucks cos they let anyone anyhow go and ppl walking barefoot is big NO NO for me
the food was really just average nothing to shout about.
dessert bar looked like it could do with an actual pastry chef…

but i ate a lot of the dark chocolate dessert….my bf was appalled…..

impeccable timing & this morning’s breakfast

Impeccable timing

is what i have.
now when economy is going to the dogs, i am looking for a job.
why?
because i think i need to save more money and doing freelance and shit like that, it is not enough.
and also i am sick of working in cafes’ but then it is very easy money yet very trying times.

below the cut would be a little rant on the above paragraph….but what i have been up to?
tonight we [you guys included because i am going to take pictures for you! ]are going to eat at the observatory :D sorry it wasn’t orbit... we haven’t been to a buffet together [Valentine's doesn't count cos it's uhh....value for money but we're not doing it for quantity...] and so we thought it would be a very good night, especially tonight to do so <3 and then …wait for it…WE’RE GOING SEMI-CLUBBING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![almost fainted when i heard this suggestion because we have vowed to be very good kids!]

we will try the orbit later but i am kinda really sick of picking food for both of us because someone really doesn’t care what he eats as long as he doesn’t have to choose..one day that will change because i will spike it with a lot of chilli and he will be very sorry…but it’s ok..when i am highly irritated and we have dinner, he knows well enough to not ask me what i want to eat and just order….. [we are..annoying like that to each other]

tehehehe…

so today’s breakfast was like tiger translates minus the alcohol and the music [sorry i didn't go in the end because my other half was too lazy to venture out into town - no parking, to much assholes, wasting money and too many feng taus for his liking : (  see!! i've grown old also larrrrr.... but in a way it didn't matter if i go or not, i'd still meet half of my school mates there...-_-" it's like they are everywhere...but it's awesome la to be recognise and to recognise them....*kiss kiss dah-ling**  -_-"]

so eastern part we have….NZ DIY’s PIZZA BREAD

ingredients:

1 X slice of bread
1 X opened canned of tomatoes pesto from someone’s leftover dinner…-_-”
1 X almost expiring processed cheese

prep time:
2 mins
slab bread on tray, scoop as much canned tomatoes you can handle of till bread holding capacity, add shitloads of salt [shitloads cos the canned tomatoes no taste] and then crack some pepper and then top with cheese and bake/grill till desired melting molten cheese desireness…

the frozen leftover five-grain bread...very common staple in nz...

***these type of specialist bread can be bought in either supermarkets [i forgot what it is called but it's wrapped in brown paper] or you can go to the specialist baker’s stores like baker’s delight or Pandoro or any farmer’s market in/across new zealand..support local produce…except for baker’s delight cos it’s aussie but i like their stuff….well summer is here so it’s really time to support the domestic fresh produce markets…i will write about city’s/britomart farmer’s marketnext week when i have time to edit the pixs….. i have so much photos to edit it isn’t funny..****

i often wonder

how my life would be if i was still living in kl..
sometimes i think i’d be having a 70 hour week job…
sitting at a desk with multiple datelines at my mom’s/cousin office…
moonlighting in spare time..

yep..
i’d have skipped college and started working cos cannot afford twinning fee…
and couldn’t be fuck to look at another 7 years of studying cos i can just get a job…[but alas' fool's thinking..always need tertiary qualification as graduate...and i am about to graduate end of next yearrrrrrrrr -provided all goes well ]

anyway i chose the wrong shit to study because i have to do post-grad..and i am not going to do that ….haih….. my course advisor asked me a very good question..DID I ACTUALLY THINK WHAT I WANTED TO DO BEFORE I CHANGED MY DEGREE?
i was doing b-science before arts….. i skipped law cos too hard….engrish not very well….i failed stats so cannot do commerce…

I HAVE NO FUCKING INTENTION TO DO any POST-GRAD, MASTERS or PHD of any sort….
what am i going to do…….-_-”

my next option is…to be a teacher…WHICH I ABSOLUTELY HATEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeee………………..
me & children or pesky high schoolers = DISASTER
so there you go…

anyway i also wonder what i would be doing in kl…

this morning’s breakfast

all i’ve been doing is trying to sit at the desk trying to finish up a piece of work that was due on friday but due to some technical error malfunctioning yadayada, that notion ceased functioning until late last night. and it’s sunday today and by monday i expect myself to be fired becauase :

my phone has conveniently killed itself. and i am phoneless.

but first time in my life, i feel some relief – not living by the phone and i like it… -_-”
i think because my other half is just a room away so i don’t need the phone to bug him or have him bug me in a nice kind of way.

right, supposed to go to some “don oburi” thing but that also didn’t happened cos none of us felt like waking up on time rofl : D

so i made breakfast and now i smell of bacon.

big props to casey and bob for helping me out with the console issue :D i <3 you guys *melt melt*
btw speaking of melting, IT IS GETTING BLOODY HOT the last few days, no? #@^$#%$!@ the sun is coming out..and i think it’s time for me to go buy a hat or avoid going out until autumn…i hate the sun lor…

make me sweaty only…dam disgusting… [but if i dun sweat, even more disgusting]… ..

so i made breakfast..because i was really hungry, i didn’t even give a shit bout presentation so this is what happens when i cook under 10 mins

i wanted to make eggs benedict but fail i guess..

how to make poached eggs?

method:
boil water
add vinegar
drop in an egg
poached it until you can see definite texture of white yolk but not forgetting if you want a runny yolk, take it out as soon as you see the white-egg parts forming..

btw there will be excess water around the egg, so place a kitchen towel on the plate and lay the eggs on top but if lazy, just plonk them on plate later skillfully turn the plate and the water will be byebye.

note: there’s only egg white in teh pix cos i used one yolk to make hollandaise sauce but peope who got cholesterol problem ar, just learn how to eat white egg omelets or poached style la..it’s really not bad..i like the msian style – the half boiled egg where you eat with pepper and soya sauce dipped with hot toasted kaya bread… but oh well don’t have it here…

one the other side of the stove, a pan is getting heated
then you fry your bacon – i like mine charred

to make hollandaise[holly] sauce – there is a lot of variation – you can herbs, mustard seed, have it plain etc..etc… but i am lazy and so i just took a simple basic recipe [ a chef can correct this but it taste like hollandaise to me when i made it so i dun really care again..sorry bout the nonchalant-ness]

you need
1 egg yolk [thus my white poached egg part only]
1 tsp lemon juice [unless u like sour holly]

[ I HAVE NO INSTANT LEMON JUICE SO GOTTA GO USE ONE WHOLE ONE JUST TO GET 1 tsp...fail la..]

and in my case i used cracked pepper and whole grained mustard seed
and some melted butter [bout 5 tbsp]
[measurements would depend on your taste and how many servings so just roughly estimate or else you can just go outside and buy premade but i didn't feel like going out]

nb: some people add roasted garlic and blend it in!!

btw you have to have a mixer to do this cos i used hand..cos lazy to find where the mixer went and
lazy to wash a lot of things..so i used a fork/chopstick but whisks are recommended…-_0″

anyway whisk everything before you add each ingredients…

but don’t whisk the egg until butter la….just whish it until fluffy but mine is a bit flat cos i wanted to do all of this in 10 mins..and btw, in between this, don’t forget to flip your bacon that is on the stove…. -__-” pls don’t blame me for charred bacon…

and all this while i was toasting bread and i manage to burn a few.. -_-” cos i forgot to adjust the toaster .. sien..

so the final products looks somewhat like this cos i just threw everything on a plate cos too hungry..the avocado is not ripe but i had no spinach to make florentine so just to have some balance of veg, i ate half an avo and gave the other half to my other half!!!
but the man picked the most hardest and unripe avocado…char dou…

buttermilk pancakes

before i proceed,

listen to me – dont make so much and cut the recipe into halve if there’s only 2 people eating it because right,
IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO FINISH that rich pancakes….unless you feel like gluttony…but i am not paying a hefty price of OMFGWTFBBQ stomach overkill….but you can never have enough of maple syrup!!!

the recipe i used followed the Tararua cultured buttermilk back carton recipe – because i am lazy to go look for one. if you got a problem with that, bring it up with the tararua company…but i am very happy as i have been using a lot of their products whenever it is i feel like eating something i don’t wish to buy and have to make myself cos it’s cheaper… .i like their cottage cheese : D

but anyway try not to laugh cos i did a few things wrong

ie.

  1. i forgot to beat the egg lightly before mixing everything.
  2. i also forgot to use a bigger bowl
  3. i didn’t really have everything but i think essential in pancakes is flour,milk/buttermilk, sugar, egg and raising agent.

so anyway i didn’t have a grater cos i threw out the old one [which reminds me i need to buy a lot of shit cos house here really don't have them]

in a seperate bowl – all your dry ingredients should’ve been sieved
i used brown sugar cos i dun like caster or normal…and besides it turned out well so i don’t care..

make a well in the dry ingredient’s bowl and then chuck the wet mixture and mix it all in smoothly…

on the side
you would’ve well greased your cooking pan [i used spray oil and i think it's one of the best invention ever for ppl who always accidently pour too much of liquid oil] and then well heat it under med fire [well again i am not sure this is true but it worked for me so i guess it should somehow work]

so drop the above droplet into the pan and let it “fry” until the top side starts to bubble…i won’t burn unless you leave it there for like forever…

dinner at vivace

i love vivace

i’ve only touched and go when  i last went to vivace – trying to sort out birthday celebrations and anniversary dinner but then the bf decided he rather stomach home cook food than eating out [but i want to eat out cos i don't want to cook!!!*shakes fist*] and so after many countless futile reservations,

we decided to hold a ladies night and thus,

unlike most risotto i’ve eaten, this is a well balanced act – not overly savoury and yet it has it’s sweet elements. the duck was very tender. it is really not OTT cos most risotto i’ve eaten is not too good…

and in the Pasta category, we had
Cannelloni, beef, cumin roast aubergine, ricotta, oregano & aged cheddar
w bechamel & Napoletana sauce

i’d show you our pictures but those goes up on facebook [maybe] partly because ladies night was supposed to be skank and hoochi but then i turned up as pimpster and the rest turn up as mid-30 MILFS…bitches…make me look out of place… and the top i wore was literally spilling things out..due to the vest…%^#$^@%#@ bet the waiter had a good time but i certainly had a lot of eye candy – ZAC EFRON lookalike ok?

anyway their service was avg…they got our order wrong but we were in good humours after a couple of beers and wine and decided wateva…prawn pepperoni..we can live with it…and if they’re going to serve such an extensive list of wines, they should have a wine connoiseur cos one of my dinner guest was very particular on her wine – lucky they made good guesses but like i said, after a few glasses of wine..who cares.. rofl..
they forgot to clear our tables before serving our mains, slightly disappointed but it doesn’t matter…

AT LEAST THEY LISTENED when you tell them not to let your guest pick up the bill.. : D
quite cheap and reasonable..3 people eating for bout $115.

and of course, when you are going to tip at this kind of places, please don’t tip less than $10 :D
